ISO 15118

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 15118 is a family of road-vehicle standards for high-level communication between an EV and EVSE (EV supply equipment), which is the charger or chargepoint hardware that supplies the vehicle. The ISO standard pages describe it as the vehicle-to-grid communication interface, and ISO 15118-20 covers second-generation network and application layer requirements for communication messages, bidirectional power transfer and information about charging and control status. For domestic EV charging, the term may appear around Plug & Charge authentication, CCS (Combined Charging System), smart charging, V2G (vehicle-to-grid) or charger compatibility notes. It is different from OCPP, which is the protocol between charging stations and charging management systems rather than the vehicle-to-chargepoint link.
