An isolator is a switch or device used to disconnect an electrical supply from equipment, a circuit or another part of an installation.

In home energy paperwork it may appear as a main switch, isolation switch, switch-fuse, PV array isolator, inverter isolator or another local point of isolation recorded on a certificate, commissioning pack or equipment schedule.
