Legacy FIT repowering

Legacy FIT (Feed-in Tariff) repowering is a shorthand for replacing older generating equipment at an installation that is already accredited under the closed Great Britain FIT scheme, such as changing ageing solar PV modules or other generating equipment. Ofgem says replacement or temporary removal of generating equipment does not by itself end accreditation, provided the installation continues to meet scheme rules, but repowering that increases or reduces TIC (total installed capacity) is a modification that must be notified. For a domestic MCS-FIT solar PV installation, the usual notification route is the FIT licensee; ROO-FIT (Renewables Obligation Order Feed-in Tariff) installations also notify Ofgem through the RER (Renewable Electricity Register). The term is separate from a new FIT application, SEG tariff, export MPAN setup, DNO approval, MCS certificate, inverter warranty, roof-work permission, installation design, battery retrofit and any promise that replacement equipment keeps the same payments.
