Listed building

A listed building is a building or structure formally protected because of its special architectural or historic interest. In home energy work, the term matters when solar equipment, a heat pump, an EV charger, battery equipment or a cable route is fixed to the building, placed within its curtilage or changes the building's appearance or setting. Listed status does not by itself ban home energy equipment or approve it. It means ordinary permitted development assumptions may not apply and the local planning authority may need to confirm whether listed building consent, planning permission, building regulations approval or another consent is required.
