Live conductor

Live-conductor wording identifies a conductor role or condition in electrical paperwork, not a sign that a circuit is safe, isolated or suitable to work on.

A live conductor is an electrical conductor that is at voltage, or that is intended to carry current or be energised in normal operation. In home energy paperwork the term may appear in supply descriptions, circuit schedules, cable-size fields, wiring labels, certificates, reports and equipment manuals. In everyday wiring language, live may also be used for the line conductor marked L, but formal documents can use live conductor more broadly than that.
