Main fuse protection

Main fuse protection is a load-management safeguard used around EV chargepoints and other high-load home energy equipment. It means the charger or an associated energy-management device checks demand against the rating of the property's main electrical fuse, so EV charging can be limited, reduced or paused before the incoming supply is overloaded. The main fuse rating may also be reviewed by the network operator when an EV charger, heat pump, solar or storage device is added. The setting does not increase the supply capacity, replace the DNO or installer's connection assessment, prove the charger has been installed correctly or guarantee the charger's headline kW output.
