MCS 031

Also known as MCS 031 a), Heat pump system performance estimate standard

MCS 031 is the MCS heat pump pre-sale information and system performance estimate standard used to produce a comparable annual performance estimate before a contract is awarded.

MCS 031 is the MCS heat pump pre-sale information and system performance estimate standard. Current MCS documents may show the hydronic, water-based heat pump version as MCS 031 a):2025. The standard sets a method for estimating annual renewable heat and electricity consumption before a contract is awarded, using inputs such as EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) heat-demand data, postcode climate data, flow temperature and MCS seasonal performance factor lookup values. It is not a heat pump design standard, heat-loss calculation, product-efficiency rating, MCS certificate, quote, running-cost guarantee, grant approval or proof that the system has been sized correctly.
