MPAN (meter point administration number)

An MPAN identifies an electricity metering point or supply point on a distribution network. In public billing contexts, it may be shown as a supply number or S number, while the MPAN Core is the 13-digit reference used as the key to the metering point in industry systems. In home energy work, an MPAN can appear on electricity bills, DNO applications, EV chargepoint and heat-pump connection forms, export registration forms, supplier records and handover paperwork because it identifies the grid supply or metering point, not a piece of equipment. It is separate from a meter serial number, supplier account number, DNO approval letter, connection agreement, export tariff, MCS certificate and product warranty.
