Meter Point Reference Number / MPRN

Also known as MPRN

An MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) is the gas supply point identifier used by suppliers and gas-industry systems for a property.

An MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) identifies a gas supply point for a property. It is the gas-side equivalent of an electricity MPAN, but it is not the same number and it does not identify the physical meter, supplier account, tariff or electricity export point. In home energy paperwork, an MPRN can appear on gas bills, supplier account records, smart-meter checks, Find My Supplier searches and government or scheme data that needs to match gas consumption to the right property. It is separate from DNO approval, an export MPAN, SEG registration, heat pump design, gas disconnection work, smart-meter communication status and proof that a bill is accurate.
