Meter reading
A meter reading is the value recorded from a gas or electricity meter at a point in time, used with other readings to work out energy used, energy exported or account charges.
Meter reading means the value recorded from a gas or electricity meter at a particular point in time. On a household energy account it is normally used with an earlier or later reading to calculate usage for a bill, statement, supplier app or export payment. The reading may be collected automatically by a smart meter, submitted by the customer or taken by a meter reader, and it is separate from an estimated reading, tariff rate, standing charge, meter serial number, meter-point identifier, SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) eligibility, DNO approval, annual consumption figure or proof that a device or installation is working correctly.
