Meter tails

Meter tails are the supply-side cables between the electricity meter area and the consumer unit or intake equipment, not proof that the supply is suitable for new home energy equipment.

Meter tails are the live and neutral power cables in the electricity meter and intake area, normally running between the meter and the consumer unit, isolator or similar intake equipment. They may be mentioned when solar, battery storage, EV charging or heat-pump work involves a consumer-unit change, a load-management sensor, a CT clamp, an isolator or a supply-capacity check. The term identifies the cables and their connection area, not the suitability of their size, route, condition, tightness or isolation.
