A microinverter is a small solar inverter fitted at panel level so each module converts DC output into AC electricity.

A microinverter is a small inverter fitted at or next to an individual solar PV module, so that module's DC output is converted to AC at module level rather than by one central string inverter for the whole array. Microinverters appear in solar array designs, module-compatibility lists, inverter datasheets, MCS paperwork and monitoring records. The architecture supports independent panel operation and can provide module-level monitoring.
