Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate
Also known as MEIWC
A MEIWC (Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate) records BS 7671 certification for minor electrical work that changes an existing circuit without adding a new circuit.
A MEIWC (Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate) is a BS 7671 (British Standard 7671) certificate for minor electrical installation work that alters or extends an existing circuit without providing a new circuit. The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) model form records the client, installation address, description of the minor works, departures from BS 7671, earthing and bonding arrangements, circuit details, inspection results, test results and the declaration for the work covered by the certificate. In home energy work it may appear where small electrical changes support solar PV, battery storage, EV charging or heat pump equipment. It is separate from an EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate), EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report), Building Regulations compliance certificate, DNO approval, MCS certification, planning permission, product warranty cover, export tariff registration and proof that the wider system is correctly designed or suitable.
