The National Energy System Operator is Great Britain's public energy-system operator and planner, responsible for balancing the electricity system and shaping future electricity and gas system planning.

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) is the publicly owned energy-system operator for Great Britain. It operates the electricity system in real time so supply and demand stay balanced, and it has strategic planning roles for future electricity and gas systems under the Energy Act 2023. The name can appear in documents about connections reform, transmission planning, balancing services, future energy scenarios and national energy policy, but it is not a DNO, electricity supplier, installer, MCS certifier, SEG licensee, planning authority or proof that a home solar PV, battery storage, EV charging or heat pump connection has been accepted.
