Neutral switching

Neutral switching is a backup-system control or relay arrangement that isolates or reconnects the neutral conductor, and where required makes or breaks a neutral-earth bond, when an electrical energy storage system (EESS) changes between grid-connected operation and island-mode backup. In UK battery-storage paperwork it belongs to backup isolators, changeover switches, gateway relays, earthing arrangements and commissioning tests.
