Noise assessment
A noise assessment is a check of predicted or measured sound from equipment, used to judge whether an installation is likely to meet a planning, permitted development or local amenity requirement.
A noise assessment is a calculation, measurement or review of sound from equipment at nearby sensitive places, such as a neighbouring habitable-room window. In home energy work it most often appears around air source heat pump siting, where MCS 020 uses manufacturer sound power data, distance, reflective surfaces and barriers to check the predicted sound level at defined assessment positions. The result is a planning and site-constraint check, not a promise of silence or acceptance in every case.
