Panel hotspots and bypass diodes are linked solar PV module terms for local cell overheating and the diode path that can limit shading-related heating and output loss.
Panel hotspots and bypass diodes are linked solar PV module terms. A panel hotspot is local overheating in part of a module, often associated with a shaded, mismatched or damaged cell area. A bypass diode is a component in the module cell-string circuit, usually in or near the junction box, that can give current an alternative path around a shaded or lower-current cell string.
