Part P
Part P is the electrical-safety part of the Building Regulations for relevant electrical installation work in dwellings.
Part P is the electrical-safety part of the Building Regulations for relevant electrical installation work in dwellings in England and Wales. It requires reasonable provision in the design and installation of low-voltage or extra-low-voltage electrical installations to protect people operating, maintaining or altering them from fire or injury. In home energy paperwork the term may appear around solar PV wiring, battery or EV charger circuits, heat pump electrical supplies, consumer-unit work, electrical certificates, competent-person notifications and handover packs. It is separate from a BS 7671 Electrical Installation Certificate, planning permission, DNO approval, MCS certification, TrustMark registration, export tariff registration, product warranty cover and proof that the whole system is correctly designed or suitable.
