Peak rate

A peak rate is the unit price that applies during the peak time band of a multi-rate or time-of-use energy tariff.

Peak rate is the unit price that applies during the peak period of a multi-rate or time-of-use tariff, usually for electricity used at busier or higher-price times. It is commonly shown in pence per kilowatt hour beside an off-peak or night rate on bills, supplier apps, tariff terms or smart-meter accounts. The label is separate from the standing charge, total bill, flat-rate tariff, fixed tariff, half-hourly meter data, export rate, SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) eligibility, meter registration, DNO approval, device compatibility and any proof that a battery, EV charger or heat pump should run at a particular time.
