Permitted development

Permitted development means work or a change of use that is treated as already having planning permission under national permitted development rights, so a separate planning application is not needed when the relevant limits and conditions are met.

Permitted development is work or a change of use that can proceed without a separate planning application because national permitted development rights already grant planning permission for it. In heat pump documents, the phrase often appears when an air source heat pump is being checked against the listed permitted development limits and conditions, including MCS 020 or equivalent noise standards where those rules apply.
