Phase imbalance is an uneven spread of electrical load or generation between the phases of a three-phase supply.

Phase imbalance is an uneven spread of electrical load, generation or current between the phases of a three-phase electricity supply. In home energy work it can appear when single-phase equipment, EV chargepoints, heat pumps, solar PV inverters, battery inverters or other large loads are connected to different phases. It matters because connection paperwork, maximum-demand calculations, import or export limits and some equipment settings can be assessed per phase rather than only as one whole-property total.
