Planning application

A planning application is a formal submission to the local planning authority asking it to decide a proposed development or planning matter, such as full planning permission, prior approval or a lawful development certificate. In home energy work the term appears when roof-mounted or stand-alone solar equipment, an air source heat pump, an EV chargepoint or another visible part of the proposal needs a planning route to be checked. The application route does not replace building regulations, listed-building consent, DNO processes, lease permissions or manufacturer requirements.
