PME earthing
Also known as Protective multiple earthing, TN-C-S
PME earthing is a UK supply earthing arrangement where the distributor's neutral and protective functions are combined in the low-voltage network.
PME earthing means protective multiple earthing: a UK supply earthing arrangement in which the distributor's low-voltage neutral and protective functions are combined in the network and the supply neutral is connected to earth at multiple points. It is commonly shown in domestic paperwork as TN-C-S (PME), although the consumer's installation must keep neutral and protective conductors separate. The arrangement matters around home energy equipment because solar inverters, batteries, EV chargepoints and heat pumps connect to the property's fixed electrical installation and may have requirements that depend on the earthing arrangement.
