Point of connection

A point of connection is the boundary point where a property, installation, generator or controlled load is electrically connected to the distribution network, often shown as POC (point of connection) in DNO paperwork.

A point of connection, sometimes abbreviated as POC (point of connection), is the agreed electrical interface where a customer's installation, new connection or generating system connects to the electricity distribution network. ENA National Terms of Connection define a Connection Point as the point or points where electricity may flow between the Distribution System and the Customer's Installation, and DNO connection agreements may also use diagrams to show the ownership boundary between customer equipment and network equipment. In home-energy paperwork, the term can appear around new supplies, export applications, G98 (Engineering Recommendation G98), G99 (Engineering Recommendation G99) or G100 (Engineering Recommendation G100) forms, single-line diagrams, import or export limits and meter or CT (current transformer) locations. It is not automatically the same physical point as the meter, main fuse, consumer unit or device connection, so it should be read with the document that names it.
