A portable air conditioner is a self-contained room appliance that normally rejects heat outdoors through a flexible exhaust hose.

A portable air conditioner contains its compressor, heat exchangers and fans in a movable room appliance. A common arrangement rejects hot air through a flexible duct routed to a window or door opening. It is different from fixed split AC and from an evaporative air cooler.
