Product warranty

A product warranty is a manufacturer's or supplier's written promise about covered faults, defects or remedies for a named item over a stated period and under stated conditions.

A product warranty is the manufacturer's or supplier's written warranty for a named product or component, such as a solar panel, inverter, battery, EV chargepoint, heat pump or control. It usually sets the covered product, warranty period, covered faults or defects, registration or commissioning conditions, exclusions and claim process. It is different from a performance warranty, capacity warranty, warranty document, workmanship guarantee, MCS certificate, consumer legal rights, product suitability, installation quality, DNO acceptance, tariff eligibility or proof that a claim will be accepted.
