Public charging roaming
Public charging roaming lets an EV driver pay for public charging across more than one network through a supported app or RFID card.
Public charging roaming is payment access that lets an EV driver pay to charge across multiple public chargepoint networks using a supported app or RFID card. In the UK Public Charge Point Regulations 2023, paid public chargepoint operators must connect to at least one external third-party roaming provider by 24 November 2025. Roaming is separate from contactless card payment, Apple Pay, Google Pay, charger availability, connector compatibility and proof that every public chargepoint will work with every app, card or vehicle.
