PV soiling and cleaning

PV soiling is the build-up of dust, dirt, pollen, leaves, bird droppings, lichen or other deposits on solar module glass. Cleaning is the maintenance action used to remove that build-up when rain and normal module tilt are not enough, especially where shallow-pitch or dusty sites leave modules dirty. MCS maintenance schedules include visual checks for module soiling and cleaning modules, while manufacturer manuals set product-specific cleaning limits such as cool modules, low sunlight, soft non-abrasive methods and avoiding damaged glass.
