PV string
Also known as string
A PV string is a series-connected group of solar PV modules that feeds a DC input on an inverter or other PV equipment.
A PV string is a set of solar PV modules connected in series so their DC voltage is combined and sent to an inverter or other PV equipment input. It can appear in string-layout drawings, inverter datasheets, MCS PV array test reports, commissioning results, monitoring portals and handover packs because string length, module quantity, open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, polarity and insulation-resistance checks affect design and recorded verification. A PV string is not the same as one module, the whole PV array, one MPPT input, the inverter, an annual generation estimate, export permission, DNO acceptance, roof suitability or proof that the installation is correctly designed.
