Quote
A quote is a written offer to carry out specified home energy work for an agreed price, setting out the scope, products, costs and conditions before it becomes part of a contract.
A quote is a written offer from a trader or installer to carry out specified work for an agreed price. In home energy work it may describe the equipment, installation scope, product details, price breakdown, VAT position, payment schedule, deposit protection, expected dates and any conditions that could change the price. Citizens Advice distinguishes a quote from an estimate: a quote is a fixed price, while an estimate is a rough guess. MCS documents require clear and detailed written quotations for MCS installations, clear product details in contracts and records of quotations where relevant. Once accepted, a quote can form part of the agreement with the installer, but it is not the same as the final contract, commissioning pack, handover pack, MCS certificate, DNO notification or warranty evidence.
