RoHS and WEEE compliance

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) compliance describes two related but different product-environment rule areas for EEE (electrical and electronic equipment). RoHS controls the use of certain hazardous substances in EEE placed on the market, while WEEE covers responsibilities when electrical and electronic equipment becomes waste, including registration, marking, take-back, treatment, recovery and recycling routes. In home energy work the phrase may appear in product declarations, labels, manuals, environmental statements or supplier paperwork for solar PV inverters, batteries, EV chargepoints, heat pump controls, monitoring devices or other electrical equipment. It is not a product-performance rating, DNO approval, MCS certification, planning permission, Building Regulations completion evidence, warranty cover or proof that a particular installation is safe, suitable or correctly designed.
