Roof hook and rail mounting

Roof hook and rail mounting is an above-roof solar PV mounting approach where roof hooks or brackets fix the mounting system to the roof structure and rails support the modules above the roof covering.

Roof hook and rail mounting is an above-roof solar PV mounting arrangement for pitched roofs where roof hooks or brackets are fixed through or beneath the roof covering to structural timbers, then mounting rails and clamps hold the PV modules above the roof surface. In MCS solar work, above-roof pitched-roof mounting systems are normally tied to MCS 012 (Pitched Roof Installation Kits) certification or equivalent evidence for the specific components, roof covering and module combination. The term should be read with roof-covering compatibility, fixing centres, wind uplift, roof-edge zones, weather-tightness, structural loading, roof warranty conditions and manufacturer instructions for the site.
