Roof pitch
Also known as roof slope
Roof pitch is the angle or steepness of a roof surface, usually measured from horizontal in solar PV documents.
Roof pitch is the angle or steepness of a roof surface, usually stated in degrees from horizontal, and it matters for solar PV because roof-mounted modules can follow that angle. In MCS performance estimates, the comparable array term is inclination or pitch: MCS 032 uses the degrees from horizontal with orientation and shading to select kWh/kWp data for an annual generation estimate. A roof pitch value should be read with the mounting arrangement because flat-roof frames or tilted mounting kits can give modules a different angle from the roof surface; it is not a planning approval, structural survey, roof-loading check, mounting-system certification, generation guarantee or proof that the installation is suitable.
