Room thermostat

A room thermostat is a heating control, room sensor or set-point controller that measures the air temperature in a room or heating zone and tells the heating system whether that space is calling for heat. In home energy documents it may appear beside programmers, thermostatic radiator valves, zone controls, heat pump controllers, wiring diagrams or commissioning notes. It is used to control space-heating demand, but it is not the same as a heat curve, weather compensation, a TRV, a cylinder thermostat, heating flow temperature or proof that the system is correctly designed, zoned or efficient.
