Self-use mode

Self-use mode is an inverter, battery or hybrid-inverter operating mode that prioritises using on-site solar generation for the property's own demand. In product documents it normally means solar power feeds connected loads first, then charges the battery where storage is present and sends remaining solar electricity to the grid where export is enabled. If solar generation is not enough, battery discharge, grid import and minimum state-of-charge behaviour depend on the product and active settings. The label is not the same as grid charging, tariff mode, force charge mode, backup mode or export permission, and it does not guarantee no import, no export, lower bills, a full battery, backup power or permission to change commissioned settings.
