A service record is a written log of maintenance, inspection, servicing or repair work that has already been carried out on an installed home energy system.

A service record is a written log of maintenance, inspection, servicing or repair work that has already been carried out on an installed product or system. In home energy paperwork it may appear in a handover pack, warranty document, product manual, support portal or service history for solar panels, battery storage, an EV chargepoint or a heat pump. It can help connect later support or warranty questions to the date of the visit, the company or person who did the work and the work recorded, but it is not a maintenance schedule, MCS certificate, DNO approval, warranty acceptance or proof that every condition has been met.
