Shading analysis
Shading analysis is the assessment of how nearby or distant objects are expected to reduce sunlight reaching a proposed solar PV array.
Shading analysis is the assessment used to estimate how objects such as chimneys, dormers, trees, nearby buildings or the horizon will shade a proposed solar PV array and affect predicted output. In MCS performance estimates, the analysis can produce a shade factor that modifies the estimated annual AC output, and an accurate shade-effect estimate will typically require a site visit. It is the assessment process behind a shading assumption or shading report, not a performance guarantee, product recommendation, DNO approval, planning approval, roof-suitability verdict or proof that a particular optimiser, microinverter or battery design is needed.
