Shading report

A shading report records how shade is expected to affect a solar PV array and its generation estimate.

A shading report is a survey or calculation record that shows how objects such as chimneys, trees, nearby buildings or roof features are expected to shade a proposed solar PV array. In MCS performance estimates, shading is represented through a shade factor that adjusts the estimated annual output. The report or supporting diagram helps explain why a quoted PV generation estimate has been reduced, but it is not a performance guarantee, structural survey, planning approval or proof that a shaded array is suitable.
