Single-phase charging

Single-phase charging is AC EV charging that uses one phase of the electrical supply rather than a three-phase connection. In UK home charger material it usually points to a 230 V AC chargepoint at about 7 kW or 7.4 kW, because single-phase domestic chargers are commonly rated up to 32 A. The label describes the supply arrangement used by the chargepoint, not a guaranteed charging speed or a promise that the property can support every charger setting. The actual rate can still be limited by the EV onboard charger, charger configuration, load balancing, supply capacity, smart schedule, solar control, cable and temperature controls.
