A single-split system connects one fixed indoor AC unit to one outdoor unit.

A single-split system is a fixed AC or air-to-air heat-pump arrangement with one indoor unit connected by refrigerant pipework to one outdoor unit. The connection pattern does not specify the indoor-unit type or how many rooms it serves.
