SEG (Smart Export Guarantee)

Also known as SEG

The SEG is the Great Britain scheme under which participating electricity suppliers pay eligible small-scale low-carbon generators for electricity exported to the grid.

SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) is a government-backed export-payment scheme in Great Britain. It requires SEG licensees to offer eligible small-scale low-carbon generators a tariff for electricity exported to the grid, with rates above zero and payments based on export meter readings. The SEG is separate from a supplier's exact export rate, import tariff, export MPAN, DNO approval, MCS certification, smart-meter installation, Feed-in Tariff status, battery-export eligibility and any savings claim.
