Smart meter

A smart meter is a gas or electricity meter that records energy use digitally and can send meter readings automatically to the supplier through the smart-meter network.

Smart meter means a gas or electricity meter that records usage digitally and can send readings remotely to the energy supplier through the smart-meter network. In household energy documents it appears around bills, supplier apps, smart tariffs, prepayment accounts, in-home displays and export meter readings. It is separate from the in-home display, the final bill, half-hourly data consent, a smart-tariff contract, export MPAN setup, SEG acceptance, DNO approval and device-control settings.
