Solar charging

Solar charging means using on-site solar PV generation as the charging source for a home battery, EV or other compatible load.

Solar charging means using on-site solar PV generation as the charging source for a home battery, EV or other compatible load. In a home battery system, it usually means storing surplus solar generation in the battery for later household use rather than exporting that electricity immediately. In EV charging, the same wording may appear as a solar-only or solar-plus-grid mode that adjusts the charge rate according to available solar output. The term describes the charging source or control mode, not a guarantee that the load will charge only from solar in every condition. Minimum charge rates, household demand, battery state of charge, inverter settings, charger settings and manufacturer limits can all affect whether grid electricity is also used or charging pauses.
