Split system

A split system has separate outdoor and indoor units connected by refrigerant pipework. In fixed AC and air-to-air heat pumps, the indoor unit transfers heat directly to or from room air. In a split air-to-water heat pump, indoor hydraulic equipment transfers heat into a wet heating system and, where specified, a hot-water system.
