State of charge control
State of charge control is the way a battery or inverter sets minimum reserve levels, charge targets or operating ranges around a battery's state of charge.
State of charge control is the part of a battery or inverter control setup that sets how much charge the battery is allowed to hold, keep in reserve or use during a schedule. It usually works through SoC (state of charge) targets, minimum reserve percentages, operating-range sliders or charge windows rather than by changing the battery's physical capacity. Manufacturer examples include battery apps that set reserve and usable capacity, and ESS (energy storage system) schedules that charge from the grid until a requested SoC is reached. The term is separate from the live state of charge reading itself, battery capacity, state of health, tariff mode, backup mode, DNO approval, MCS certification, warranty cover and permission to alter commissioned settings.
