State of health

Also known as SOH

State of health, or SOH, is a battery condition measure that compares the battery with its original or rated condition.

State of health, or SOH, is a battery condition measure that compares the battery with its original or rated condition. For a home battery, SOH is usually a health or degradation indicator rather than a live charge-level figure. It may be based on how much charge or usable capacity the battery can still hold compared with the rated value, although the exact calculation and display depend on the product, BMS and warranty wording. The term can appear in diagnostics, installer support reports, battery warranties and handover material when the condition of a battery is being discussed. It should be read alongside state of charge, capacity retention, usable capacity, cycle life and warranty conditions, not treated as a promise of remaining household lifespan, backup runtime or warranty entitlement.
