The supplier of last resort process is Ofgem's safety-net process for appointing a new energy supplier when a gas or electricity supplier fails.

The supplier of last resort process, often shortened to SoLR (Supplier of Last Resort), is Ofgem's safety-net process for moving customers of a failed gas or electricity supplier to a new supplier. Ofgem says customers stay supplied, credit balances are protected and the new supplier initially uses a deemed contract covered by the energy price cap. The process is separate from ordinary switching, a fixed tariff, a SEG export tariff, export MPAN setup, DNO approval, MCS certification, smart-meter compatibility and any guarantee that a solar PV, battery, EV charger or heat pump tariff will remain unchanged.
