Thermostatic radiator valve

A thermostatic radiator valve, often shortened to TRV, is a radiator valve with a temperature-sensing head that opens or closes the valve to adjust hot-water flow through that radiator. In home heating and heat pump documents it may appear beside radiators, room thermostats, heat emitters, zone controls, heating circuits and commissioning notes. It provides room-by-room trimming control for radiator emitters, but it is not the same as a wall room thermostat, a programmer, a radiator balancing valve, a heat curve, proof of building-regulations compliance or proof that the heating system has enough water flow.
