Time-based control is a battery or inverter control approach that uses clock times or scheduled windows to decide when the system charges, holds or discharges.

Time-based control is a battery or inverter control approach that uses clock times or scheduled windows to decide when the system charges, holds or discharges. It may appear in product interfaces as timed charge, timed discharge, timed export, scheduled charge levels, time-of-use mode or a product-specific schedule. Some products use simple fixed windows, while others combine time periods with rate-plan information, solar or consumption forecasts, state-of-charge targets or self-consumption rules. In a home battery system the control can be used to align charging or discharging with off-peak periods, peak-rate periods, export windows or expected household demand, depending on the system and tariff. The term describes the time schedule used by the control, not a guarantee of a full battery, lower bills, export payment eligibility, universal smart-tariff compatibility or backup power.
