Transmission network

The transmission network is the high-voltage electricity network that moves large amounts of electricity from generators and large grid connection points over long distances. It feeds lower-voltage distribution networks, which are the networks that normally connect homes and small businesses. In home energy paperwork, the term matters mainly as the upstream grid layer behind DNO connections, export capacity, network reinforcement and wider grid-connection context. It is separate from the local distribution network, an energy supplier, an MPAN, a DNO approval letter, SEG registration, MCS certification and the wiring inside a property.
